Overview
Suitable for all ages
Drive up one of the few substantial hills in Hawke’s Bay to admire the huge landscapes of farmland that make up the area. You can park near the peak and just walk up the last bit for the views or you can go for a longer walk around Redwood Forest. For this option, park just near the gates, before you get to the peak and choose one of several tracks to follow. The shortest walk should take about 40 minutes. The paths are good but rugged with tree roots so won’t be suitable for all buggies. The forest is particularly pleasant if you’re trying to escape the sun on a hot day!
Dogs off leash are allowed along Te Mata walking tracks. Some tracks are also open to Mountain Bike riders.
