Southern Cross Bar and Restaurant, Wellington

Overview

Suitable for all ages

The Southern Cross is well known amongst locals and visitors for being a very family friendly place to eat out with kids in tow. From the decent sized kids’ menu, to the baskets of toys, tolerance of staff and their ability to avoid run away kids, this is the place to go if you have kids that can’t sit still.

It’s great any day of the week but at the weekend, there are face painters and craft activities to go with breakfast or lunch, as well as afternoon live music sessions to accompany an early dinner! Check their website or Facebook page for other special family friendly events happening when you plan to visit including puppet shows every other Saturday morning and free 10 minute massages on Tuesday and Thursday mornings while a staff member looks after your little one.

It’s advisable to book and there are a few different seating options; a more traditional restaurant layout at the front, big tables with booth seating or couches to the side and a bar area at the back which leads out into a garden bar for warmer days.

Last but definitely not least the food is good with lots of variety from counter food to a large menu, good coffee and it’s licensed!
