This is one of the largest skateparks in the Wellington region. It’s a good place to take kids that are still getting the hang of a scooter or skateboard as there’s space to make mistakes and even some decent flat surfaces, as well as lots of different levels of ramps.

There’s a good sized kidney shaped bowl, ramps, boxes, a volcano, pyramid, stairs, handrails and flat rails.

There’s a water fountain for drinking and the closest toilets are in Te Rauparaha Arena. The skatepark is just next to a huge area of grass, perfect for ball games and kite flying.

If the weather turns and you’re prepared with swimming things, the pool at Te Rauparaha Arena is great or there’s a cafe, library and art gallery (with a room for kids) in Pataka.
