Breaker Bay, Kaiteriteri

Overview

Suitable for all ages

If you’re looking for a beach other than the main beach or Little Kaiteriteri, Breaker Bay is small and beautiful. There’s no road access – you have to walk down stairs and a path from the main road meaning that this beach can be quieter than the other local options. The bay is sheltered and the water is calm, making it perfect for kids. If you’re driving into the area, you’ll have to park on the main road and it’s a good idea to have your belongings organised into bags etc that can be easily carried down to the beach. There’s only a few baches around, no facilities. The closest toilets, shops etc are back at the main beach. There are rocks for exploring at low tide at either end of the bay.

From the main road, you can take a walk up to Kaka Point Lookout for views over the whole of Kaiteriteri in one direction and towards Marahau and the Abel Tasman in the other direction. There’s also a big area of grass and picnic tables here if you’re sick of sand! Use the sign to check out how far you are from different cities in the world.
