For some people, visiting Hawkes Bay is synonymous with checking out a winery or two! The problem with visiting a winery with kids though is that often there’s little to keep the kids occupied while the adults enjoy a glass of the local beverage and that isn’t very enjoyable for anyone. Askerne Winery has set out to change this!

Set amongst the vines, outdoor picnic tables allow for a very informal and relaxed atmosphere for a ‘Build Your Own’ picnic. Choose from selections of cheeses, pates, seafood items etc and breads, crackers etc to come up with a picnic that the whole family can graze on. Alternatively choose a picnic for the adults and kids packs for the younger family members. Whatever you eat, the kids can be entertained with outdoor games like pick up sticks, a bag toss or hula hoops, while you sample what Askerne is most famous for – it’s wine!

It’s worth noting that all tables are for outside dining so bring warm layers if necessary!
