Set at the back of a ski hire shop, this small indoor climbing centre packs a lot of varied equipment in. One half has the more traditional rock faces with overhangs, cracks and lay backs for climbers with or without a belayer. The other half is more fun and might appeal to kids more. It’s based on the Clip ‘N Climb system which only allows the climber to clip in by themselves (no belayer required).

This climbing centre is great for rainy days during the summer and winter when outdoor activity plans might need a plan B. But always phone ahead to check opening hours as these are subject to change. It’s also good for those with more than one child wanting to climb but only one adult to belay as the systems allow kids to climb by themselves.

No options for buying food and drink within the climbing centre but as it’s in the middle of Ohakune, there are plenty of places to choose from right outside. No food and only bottled water allowed within the centre. Note that climbers will need closed shoes like trainers to participate.
