Overview
Suitable for all ages
This is a very popular spot on a long weekend or when the weather’s fine over the weekend. The beach is beautiful and as the name suggests, it’s long (about 1km) so plenty of space for everyone even when it’s busy. There are life guards in the summer months so make sure your family swims between the flags. There are toilets, changing rooms and showers at various points along the reserve opposite the beach.
As well as the beach and swimming, there’s a great playground (about halfway down the beach on the grassy reserve) with a flying fox, spacenet for climbing and bucket swing amongst other equipment. You can walk along the beach or through the reserve but also right round on the point on the coastal track to explore other beaches.
If you can avoid the traffic getting in and out (queues of cars stretching over a kilometre aren’t uncommon during the summer and on public holidays), it’s well worth a visit. TOP TIP: go early in the day or you could also leave it till the off season and go for a bracing walk in the winter!
