There is space to run around and benches/picnic tables if you’re looking to take a break from a car journey on SH1 south of the Desert Road. While there is a small playground at Memorial park it is quite tired but just next door at Taihape Area School there’s concrete spaces to scoot on and a couple of playgrounds to choose from so possibly a better place to play if it’s not school time (i.e. during the school holidays or at weekends) . There’s also a small skatepark just next to the public playground, tennis courts if you happen to have your own equipment and a small indoor pool if the weather makes it’s not an outside kind of day.
