Mosgiel Memorial Gardens, Dunedin

Overview

Suitable for all ages

The playground within Memorial Gardens, in the western suburb of Mosgiel (en route from the airport to the city centre if you’re coming in that way) has a separate fenced and gated area for preschoolers as well as a section for older kids. Equipment includes a large spacenet, a wooden fort with slides and sand play.

There’s a network of paths which would be fine for scooters, kids bikes and buggies if you want to walk to the equipment or have a walk within the gardens.

Further along Reid Ave, past public toilets, there are playing fields which you could have a run around on if you take a ball with you and they’re not already in use. It’s set up for playing football in the winter months and cricket and athletics in the summer months.

If your kids aren’t tired enough from running around the playground, or if they’re hungry and you’re looking for a family friendly cafe, try Wals Fun Land and Cafe, also in Mosgiel.
