Dun Eden Family Farm, Dunedin

Suitable for all ages of animal lovers (although see below)

This petting farm changed ownership mid 2016 and seems to have made a good experience even better! Families can get prearranged tours around the farm, helping to feed and pat animals which include ponies, rabbits, pigs, sheep, chickens, llama and a highland cow. It’s essential to book and tours don’t happen everyday so check their Facebook page here if you’re thinking of going.

Feedback suggests that it’s probably best suited to younger kids, unless your older kids are real animal lovers. It’s quite small, so might not retain older kids’ interest as well as it does the younger ones. Gumboots are a good idea! Closes during the winter months.
